In one week we get the first episode of the Twelfth Doctor. And with a new Doctor there is usually a new title sequence. This season is no different. Well, it is a little different in that the new title sequence is actually fan inspired.

Billy Hanshaw, a motion graphics professional based in Leeds, decided to create a mock intro sequence and then uploaded it to his YouTube page. Receiving (at the time of writing) almost 800,000 hits, the sequence came to the attention of the show-runner of Doctor Who, Steven Moffat, who then commissioned Hanshaw to work with BBC Cymru Wales to create the new title sequence for season 8.

The new Doctor Who title sequence, inspired by Hanshaw's creation, will be unveiled on Saturday August 23rd when the season 8/34 opener "Deep Breath" airs on BBC One at 7:50pm.
