With all The Flash, Constantine and Gotham news recently, another DCTV show based on a comic from the Vertigo imprint is slowing going about it's business almost under the radar.

iZombie is based on characters created by Chris Roberson and Mike Allred and published in the comic of the same name. The pilot is being written by Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero and centres on a med student turned zombie, Liv, who takes a job in the coroners office to gain access to brains she must reluctantly eat so that she can maintain her humanity. The catch? With each brain she consumes she inherits the memories of the corpse and, with the help of her medical examiner boss, she solves homicide cases to shut up the voices in her head. This is a slight departure from the comics in that the lead character is named Gwen and is a gravedigger.

TVLine is reporting that actress Rose McIver has been cast as the lead character, Liv. Which has met with approval from co-creator Allred.

The pilot has yet to start filming.
